Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is VitraPanel®?
VitraPanel® is a pre-finished panel usually based on high density (compressed)
fibre cement. VitraGroup processes the cement sheets with its proprietary coating
system. The finished product is a panel with an ultra smooth and hard finish
which can last for more than 50 years.
VitraPanel® is waterproof, will not rot, corrode or support any growth of
lichen, bacteria or mould.
Is it VitraPanel®?
VitraPanel® is manufactured with our own proprietary ultra high quality
coating systems Vitrathane 643™ and Vitraflon 700™. Vitraflon 700™ is to
our knowledge the only fluoro polymer coating system available on the
market for wet spray application.
Ask for the type of system other panels are coated with and compare
with our tests and warranties.
How do I install VitraPanel®?
The substrate manufacturers (James Hardie, CSR, and BGC) have installation
manuals for their products (JH D3-1000, CSR "Express Wall", BGC
compressed). To install VitraPanel® you have to strictly follow one of the
above systems. The manuals are available from VitraGroup.
How do I order samples?
For initial colour selection, choose from our standard or metallic colour
palette, the VitraGroup Fandeck or any other colour standard. You may then
order coloured A4 cards for sample boards or 200x200 mm genuine VitraPanel®
for each colour to be used on your project. Approval for samples may be
required. Please contact
our office, your representative
or download a sample form (MS Word Format).
Does VitraPanel® require additional coating for graffiti protection?
No; Graffiti protection is an integral part of the VitraPanel® coating. No
additional treatment is required. Graffiti can simply be wiped off without any
disfigurement to the surface. Ask for a guide to graffiti removal.

Do you have a concealed fixing system?
VitraGroup will approve, for certain projects and certain installers, a concealed fixing
system based on VHB tape and structural silicon glue. Please contact us for details.
Can VitraPanel® be cut on site?
VitraGroup recommends ordering panels cut to the exact size and pre-finished.
However, if there is some cutting necessary we supply cutting instructions and
a touch-up kit for each project.
What coating system do you have?
- System Vitrathane 643™ (basic VitraPanel® coating system, with standard 10 year warranty)
Vitraflon 700™ (special high quality fluoro polymer coating which retains colour and gloss level

designed for low maintenance and easy cleaning.
What testing has been performed on VitraPanel®?
VitraPanel® has been tested to some building standards for physical properties
and fire resistance by CSIRO and other accredited laboratories.
Our coating system is tested continuously in our QUV accelerated weatherometers;
Xenon arc tested by our resin supplier and tested by the Allunga accelerated natural
sunlight testing facility.
